The founder and driving force behind Quality of Life Medical & Research Center, John McGettigan, MD, provides his expertise in sexual health, pain management, aesthetics, and general medical practices to members of the Tucson, Arizona, community.
A graduate of Emory Medical School in Atlanta, Dr. McGettigan moved to Tucson and attended the University of Arizona. There, he was trained as a general surgeon before specializing in emergency medicine. Dr. McGettigan was one of the first doctors added to the staff at Thomas Davis Medical Center in Tucson, working in the urgent care clinic.
He launched Quality of Life Medical & Research Center to focus on men’s health and general medicine for both men and women. He is a BioTE® pellet hormone therapy-certified provider, helping patients find a high quality of life by balancing their hormone levels. He also has experience helping people overcome addiction and live a clean, healthy life.

Stacey Fiorillo is originally from Indiana where she graduated from Purdue University in 1992 with a BA in Exercise Physiology and in Kinesiology. She worked as a personal trainer and was contracted as an exercise specialist for companies such as Subaru Industries of Indiana, Monon Trailer and Wabash National. The focus of her work for these clients was pre-employment testing, work-conditioning and corporate fitness.
Stacey continued her education at the University of Indianapolis and in the spring of 2000 she became a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant. The Arizona climate and excellent job opportunities brought her to Tucson in 2006. She has worked in multiple settings as a PTA but gained the most experience in outpatient clinics. These clinical settings allow her to use a wide variety of skills she has been acquiring since 2000. She has experience in multiple areas including rehabilitation of a wide array of orthopedic injuries and conditions, myofascial release techniques to address fibrotic adhesions and restrictions, pelvic core strengthening, balance issues and vestibular rehabilitation.
Stacey joined the Quality of Life team in June 2017 and has enjoyed working as a Physical Therapist Assistant under the supervision of the providers to help patients meet their goals.
Samantha was born and raised in Kansas. She earned a Bachelor’s degree from Chadron State College and a Bachelor’s in Nursing through the University of Nebraska Medical Center. After completing nursing school Samantha moved to Tucson, working as a Registered Nurse in Trauma, Medical/Surgical and Bariatric practices.
She received her Adult-Geriatric Nurse Practitioner degree and certificate at Maryville University of St. Louis and started her first full time position as a Nurse Practitioner in Lake Havasu City. We are pleased that Samantha has elected to join us at Quality of Life providing primary care. If you are looking for your first, or a new primary care provider, talk to Samantha.
Samantha and her husband have two boys, a great Dane and a Yorkie. They are avid sports fans an enjoy cheering on the local semi-professional teams.
Kelly Mendelsohn graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Arizona in 2005, and began her career as a Registered Nurse working primarily with patients with a variety of cardiac issues. During that time, she completed her first Master’s degree in Nursing Leadership at Grand Canyon University. Kelly then began working on a Step-Down ICU unit in a dual Manager/Floor RN role. During her 9 years in that position Kelly provided care to patients experiencing multiple critical health issues and problems.
While in this role she realized the impact that primary care had on her patients’ quality of life, and how difficult it was for some patients to obtain adequate outpatient care. Kelly returned to school and obtained her Nurse Practitioner degree. Kelly started her Nurse Practitioner career here at Quality of Life and has interests in hormone replacement therapy, women’s and men’s health, and primary care. Kelly is also a certified BioTE® hormone replacement provider.
Kelly and her husband have three children, and enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and being active. Kelly is accepting new patients at this time.
Dave Stevens began his career as a physician assistant in 1997 in Yuma, AZ working with an orthopedic spine surgeon. He has extensive experience evaluating and treating all types of back and neck pain. This background has made him familiar with all types of conservative treatment options as well as the risks and benefits of surgical treatments.
In 2009, he began working with an interventional pain management specialist. In pain management, he found a niche that suited his compassionate personality. His knowledge and expertise allow him to help people have an enjoyable and productive life in spite of their chronic pain. He tries to show people other ways to control their pain besides pain medication implementing referrals to physical therapy, psychology, psychiatry, stress reduction and even surgery when indicated.
Dr. Brian McCabe received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Indiana University in 1986. In 1991 he obtained his M.D. from Indiana University School of Medicine and spent 3 months gaining surgical experience at the Raleigh Fitkin Memorial Hospital in Manzini, Swaziland, Southern Africa.
Dr. McCabe moved to Tucson in ’91 and completed his internship at TMC and Anesthesia Training at the University of Arizona from 92-95. He was initially in private practice with Rincon Anesthesia specializing in Cardiothoracic Anesthesia and Pain Management before accepting a position at the Tucson VA Medical Center as a director of Cardiothoracic and Pain Management Services.
Dr. Jared Gilman is a fellowship trained interventional pain physician who uses both ultrasound and fluoroscopic guided injections to treat chronic pain conditions. He completed his Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation training at Virginia Commonwealth University and his Interventional Pain Medicine Fellowship at the University of Arizona.
He specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of chronic neck and low back pain, joint pain, and nerve pain. He is passionate about treating each patient as an individual; he believes each patient has his/her own story to tell.
Dr. Gilman’s previous training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation has enabled him to provide a unique perspective to his patients with the overall goal of improving function and quality of life. With the help of his colleagues, Dr. Gilman is also able to utilize a multidisciplinary approach by incorporating physical therapy, psychology, medications, and injections into his treatment plan. He is proficient and highly trained in procedures such as epidural steroid injections, nerve blocks, radiofrequency ablation, peripheral and spinal cord stimulation, as well as regenerative medicine.
Heather Waters completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing through Grand Canyon University and has worked as a Registered nurse in medical/surgical, women’s care, preoperative/post anesthesia care and special procedures. Heather received her Family Nurse Practitioner Degree through University of Cincinnati and started her Nurse Practitioner career here at Quality of Life. Heather is excited to see patients for their primary care needs and believes in a team approach to foster health and wellness for her patients, she is a big proponent of education and lifestyle modification.
Heather has a special interest in caring for the primary care needs for members of the LGBTQ community.
Heather and her husband have three children, two girls and one boy, who keep her very busy on her time away from the office.
Cindy Finch Benoy, MSN, FNP-C is a Board Certified, Nurse Practitioner who has been in private practice in both Chandler, AZ and now Tucson, AZ. She completed her Master’s Degree in Nursing Leadership and her Post-Masters Certificate in Family Nurse Practitioner from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ.
Her clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner has been in Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy, Thyroid Disease and treatment, and Primary Care. Her Primary Care focus is Health Promotion and Disease Prevention through early diagnosis and lifestyle modification through diet and exercise.
Her RN experience before completing her Nurse Practitioner training includes 30 years of Critical Care Experience ranging from Adult Trauma and Liver, Kidney and Pancreas Transplant in Miami, Florida to Medical and Cardiac Care Nursing in Maryland, Georgia and now Arizona.
Energetic, effective, and collaborative, Cindy has an engaging communication style and the ability to think critically in a vast arena of both critical care and primary care situations.
Cindy is not only accepting new patients, but she also works closely with all providers here at Quality of Life and welcomes one-time visits to provide continuity of care when your usual provider is unable to see you immediately. She will also be conducting Annual Wellness Visits.
Ida was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado. After high school, she received a bachelor of science in mathematics and taught high school mathematics for 9 years. She then went to nursing school and received a bachelor of nursing degree and a master of science in nursing from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, Colorado. She worked as a medical/surgical nurse in hospital settings starting in 1982. She moved to Tucson, AZ in 1994 and received a postgraduate certificate as a nurse practitioner from the University of Arizona in 1996.
As a nurse practitioner, Ida has worked in internal medicine, occupational health, and has been practicing in pain management since 2010.
Kim has been a fixture at Quality of Life for 12 years, starting at the front desk and working her way up to the Office Manager’s position. If there is one person that holds it all together for us, it’s Kim.
Born in Michigan, Kim moved to Tucson in 1972 and has called it home since. Prior to taking the position as Office Manager, Kim directed all human resource functions at the clinic, obtaining her Human Resources Management Consultant certificate. Kim is totally committed to creating an excellent experience for every patient, every time and wants you to know that your wellness and care is her number one priority.
