Robert Whiting, LCSW

Experience
Robert Whiting is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with decades of experience in mental health and substance use treatment. He began his career in the field in 1998 after relocating to Tucson in 1996, working with local community agencies focused on co-occurring disorders, including substance dependence and mood disorders.
In 2008, Robert joined the Tucson Veterans Affairs Hospital as a Social Worker and Therapist, where he provided care to veterans for over 15 years. He retired from the VA in 2023 and continues to serve the Tucson community through mental health treatment and support services.
Expertise
Robert specializes in addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions, including substance use disorders and behavioral addictions such as gambling, pornography, and exercise addiction.
His clinical focus also includes mood disorders, panic disorders, anxiety, social phobia, and trauma-related challenges.
He works with individuals facing issues such as abandonment, caregiver stress, chronic pain, communication difficulties, control challenges, guilt and shame, isolation, loneliness, life purpose concerns, men’s issues, midlife transitions, and veteran-related mental health needs.
